Our story

A restaurant on the lake, between the mountains.

Good food, even better company, and a long view of the lake.

Halcyon Hot Springs mineral pools with the lodge and forested mountains beyond at golden hour
Place

Halcyon, on the lake.

Mineral pools, mountain air, and a view that catches the last of the sun.

Halcyon Hot Springs sits on the western shore of Upper Arrow Lake, in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia. Mineral pools steam at the edge of the trees. Loons call across the water in the morning.

Our view looks straight into all of it — and on quiet evenings, the whole place hums softly with the kind of calm you can’t fake. Come for an early dinner; stay for the way the mountains turn pink.

Kitchen

The chef & the plate.

Honest, considered cooking — rooted in the Kootenays, quietly well-travelled.

Our chef cooks the way he travels — curious, considered, a little sentimental. You’ll catch a whisper of Seville in a dressing, a breath of Lisbon off the grill, and the long, easy character of the Kootenays running through everything in between.

We source close to home whenever we can, and let the menu change with the seasons — so what arrives at your table this week may be gone by the next. Much of it is grown, raised, or foraged within the valley — by neighbours, farmers, and friends we know by name. The plates are quietly elegant, generous of spirit, and — more often than not — finished with a flower.

Chanterelle chef and host sharing a laugh behind the live-edge bar
· a small philosophy ·

“Upscale doesn’t have to mean uptight.
Leave the pretension at the door, laugh a little, sip slowly, and savour a few hours away from the world.”
